About The Lab Martial Arts
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) & Muay Thai Classes in Buxton, High Peak
About Neil Maltby
Neil’s martial arts journey began in the late 1990s, with a passion for Muay Thai that took off around 2000.
Over the years, he has trained under some of the top coaches in both the UK and Thailand, gaining a deep understanding of the art of eight limbs.
In 2010, Neil became a qualified instructor under Grand Master Sken, reflecting his dedication and skill in Muay Thai.
In 2005, Neil took up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and he currently holds a black belt. He trains under Lee Bown at Amber Valley MMA, and Lee’s coaching style has influenced Neil’s own approach.
Their shared focus on continuous improvement has shaped the learning environment at The Lab Martial Arts, where students are encouraged to grow and excel.
More recently, Neil has added Sambo to his skillset and is a level 2 coach under the British Sambo Federation, showing his commitment to developing as both a martial artist and a coach.
As a coach, Neil leads by example. He’s always on the mats, working closely with students and helping them improve. He lives locally in Chapel-En-Le-Frith with his partner and 3 kids who train in the kids BJJ classes.
